Outsider Art Fair 2013, American Visionary Art Museum

Cette année notre voyage de repérage nous mènera à New-York, à la Outsider Art Fair (OAF)(1), à la galerie Gitana Rosa(2) de Brooklyn, à la Parlor Gallery(3) de Asbury Park, à la Indigo Arts Gallery(4) de Philadelphie, à la Outsider Art Gallery(5) de Frenchtown (NJ) et au American Visionary Art Museum(6) (AVAM) de Baltimore. Nous devrions idéalement rencontrer quelques historiennes de l’art américaines, notamment Valérie Rousseau(7) de la Andrew Edlin Gallery (et commissaire de la OAF) ainsi que Joy Glidden(8) copine qui a quitté Montréal en 1987 pour fonder le DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival.

Martine Birobent, notre fondatrice exposera à la OAF par le truchement d’une collaboration avec la Galerie Bourbon-Lally(9) : trois poupées muselées et deux madones. Merci à Reynald. Nous aurons la chance de croiser Henry Boxer (10), administrateur de Raw Vision(11). Enfin, nous aurons dans nos valises quelques oeuvres d’Anick Langelier(12), histoire de développer l’intérêt de la communauté de l’art brut sur son brillant travail.

Nous en profiterons pour séjourner dans quelques hôtels classiques du National Trust For Historic Preservation(13).

Restez à l’écoute, car bientôt nous annoncerons les détails entourant la présence de Martine Birobent(14), Anick Langelier et Marie-Claude Pratte(15) à la Biennale Internationale des Arts-Hors-Les-Normes(16) de Lyon, à l’automne 2013. Aussi à venir la programmation 2013 de la Galerie des Nanas.

2013 checkup, Outsider Art Fair and AVAM

This year’s Galerie des Nanas study trip will lead us to the US. We will attend the Outsider Art Fair(1) (OAF) in Chelsea (New-York), at Gitana Rosa(2) in Brooklyn, at Parlor Gallery(3) in Asbury Park, at the Indigo Arts Gallery(4) in Philadelphia, at the Outsider Art Gallery(5) in Frenchtown (NJ) and American Visionary Art Museum(6) (AVAM) in Baltimore. We are expecting meetings with a few influential women curators, namely Valérie Rousseau(7) of the Andrew Edlin Gallery (and programmer of the OAF conferences) as well as Joy Glidden(8), a long ago friend who has left Montreal in 1987 to start the DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival, among several other accomplishments (she first is an artist!).

Martine Birobent our founder will show new works at the OAF, thanks to Galerie Bourbon-Lally(9) : three muzzled dolls and two madones. We should have the chance to meet Henry Boxer(10), board member of Raw Vision(11). Finally we will carry over some works from the mesmerizing Anick Langelier(12), our latest discovery.

We will stay in a few classic hotels of the National Trust For Historic Preservation(13).

Stay tuned, we will soon announce the details concerning the participation of Martine Birobent(14), Anick Langelier and Marie-Claude Pratte(15) at the Biennale Internationale des Arts-Hors-Les-Normes de Lyon(16), in the fall of 2013. Also coming up, our own show agenda for 2013.
